Too Tired to Write

on May 27, 2014 in Misc

Actually, despite this post’s title, I did get some writing done today.  I edited about 5o pages of my second Charity MacCay novel.  And considering the fact that I’m a really tough-on-myself, check-every-word, do-it-slowly editor, that’s pretty good.

Trouble is, now my brain is pretty much dead.  Can’t think up any funny poems to write for you all.  Can’t figure out how to introduce a Serious Topic I wanted to explore.  Sure as heck can’t be witty and entertaining.

I can only wish y’all a really great week.  Hope the world is kind to you and you have some fun and spectacular success with your writing and publishing.  Next weekend I promise to write, like, the coolest post I’ve ever written.  Which means I’m gonna GET OUT NEXT WEEKEND AND HAVE SOME FUN!

Take care.

  1. Go live a little this weekend! I know I will. But I’ll also have time to write, which is good, as I have to complete my next manuscript by the first of June.

Alex – The first of June? I know you can do it!

  3. Yay for you! Enjoy. Love the kitty :)

  4. Helena says:

Carol – Wish I could have a holiday like yours — it sounded wonderful!

  5. My mind has no end of serious topics. Sometimes, the trouble comes in choosing between them to talk about them with another person. Helena, I must say that over the years your comments on my blog have been absolutely spectacular. They are the most intelligent and most engaging. Oftentimes, I put these wild ideas that I get out there in the expectation that I will get some intelligent discourse. But what I usually get are people that just pop in to say hi on their way to another blog and don’t really want to get bogged down in any kind of “depth” or “examination” of whatever it is I’m blogging about. If it were up to me, I’d lounge around for hours philosophizing with other folk over a meal and talk about the day’s issues. You strike me as someone I’d love to have in that group.

Enjoy…write and write more! I’m running against deadline…

  7. Helena says:

Michael – You are so sweet! I’m usually worried that I come across in my comments on any blog as an opinionated pain in the rear who does not know the meaning of the word “succinct.” And I’ve gotta say I love how I never know what to expect from your posts, or how they can range from short and funny to in-depth essays. Maybe it’s the Irish in me, ’cause they love to talk and they treat conversation as an art. Hence Oscar Wilde was considered to be one of the greatest conversationalists ever. One of these days, Mike, you and I have got to get together, like maybe this summer. And I would be honored to be in your group.

  8. Helena says:

Nas — Sometimes it’s the deadlines that MAKE me write and edit. I’ve got a lazy streak.

  9. Gina says:

Writing can be a very tiring process.

  10. Helena says:

Gina – It can be so….zzzzzzzzzzzz

  11. 50 pages is a very healthy stab — keep at it after you get some fresh air and fun.

Milo – Now that our weird Colorado weather is quieting down, it’s safe to go outside again.
